Woodshop

About YOU Woodshop

Expertly crafted in London, Ontario from locally sourced products, Youth Opportunities Unlimited woodshop items are perfect for professional and aspiring chefs alike. Beautiful enough to be on display and solid enough to stand up to heavy use, our cutting boards are made from only the finest maple and black walnut to ensure they last for years to come.

All wood used in the YOU woodshop is locally sourced and FSC Certified

This ensures that the wood is sustainably harvested from non-genetically modified trees, endangered species and wildlife habitats are protected, and workers receive fair pay and incentives. It is very important to us to support businesses that meet rigorous environmental and social standards, commit to biodiversity conservation, and respect and encourage the well-being of their employees.

Under the supervision of an experienced carpenter, youth learn the stages of manufacturing wood products. From raw material to finished product, youth are part of a team that makes various wood products. Youth are trained in the principles of woodworking from basic to advanced and proper use of tools and machinery (including maintenance).

Available individually or included in one of our Gift Packages, our wood products make the perfect gifts for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, housewarming, or almost any other occasion.

YOU Made It Recycling

About YOU Made It Recycling

YOU Made It Recycling is a not-for-profit social enterprise created in 1996 by Youth Opportunities Unlimited, a registered charity, to provide employment skills training to local youth.

Thanks to the support of customers, youth participating in recycling take part in a skills training program that includes instruction under the mentorship of professional staff and the vital experience provided by customers.

Youth receive training to operate several types of workstations that process recycled materials. They learn how to safely operate a compactor/baler, various hand tools and material handling equipment. The 6,000 square feet facility is Ministry of Environment approved and contributes to London’s ‘green’ economy.

YOU Made It Recycling services accepts clean plastics, glass, cardboard, newsprint, paper and aluminum and offers outstanding service to businesses large and small.

Proceeds from all services go directly to support youth in programs and services of  Youth Opportunities Unlimited.
